New South Patio/Outdoor Entertainment Venue
Funds were allocated by the Board in Dec. 2013, to make improvements to the South Patio where the old gazebo once stood.  The area has had some contentious discussion over the last couple of years following its removal.  Nancy Grant, a member of the Board, proposed an inexpensive design to improve the eye line and provide the members a new outdoor patio/entertainment area.  Under her guidance as Project Manager, and with the assistance of Carol Mae Smith, Clubhouse Chair, Jan Kilwien, Co-Chair, Mike & Sharon Young, Landscaping Chair & Co-Chair,  Bob Torgler, Maintenance Chair and Larry Smith (gentleman extraordinaire).  The area was simply revitalized into an oasis!

Six eight foot Mexican Palms set the new theme.  Combined with new power  outlets for sound systems to crock pots, a beautiful 10 foot by 12 foot gazebo with wind-break curtains provides ample shade.  Add a couple of tables with umbrellas and chairs, picnic table, propane fire pit and bar-b-que, and the South Patio is re-born to offer members and visitors alike the opportunity to use the area for public and private gatherings.

The project came in well under budget but there was still more to do. The Landscape Committee under the guidance of Mike & Sharon got to work adding more drought resistant plants - Agave, cactus and others plus ornamentals to improve the appearance even more. In 2015, a stone bench was added commemorating the Roadrunners rally chapter.  Congratulations to all involved in this project - it's a winner!

The South Patio is now available for members, visitors and guests to utilize for park or private events during the peak winter season. To avoid conflicts, a sign-up sheet is located on the clubhouse refrigerator.
